Northwest Flower & Garden Show 2020

WoW! it is a page of firsts: the first blog on my new web site and the first time this century I will experience the Northwest Flower and Garden Festival as an attendee.

For over twenty years I have designed, built, staffed, and demolished a display garden with Judith Jones of Fancy Fronds..

We have dived under the sea in “the Octopus’s Garden, we traveled “Outback in Time” with the Fernstones, we danced in Asian splendor in “the King and I”. We have pulled our inspiration from from Oaxaca carvings (viewed at the bottom of a glass of really good Merlot), the artist Erte, we channeled ratty and Mr. Mr Toad for Wind in the willows, we attended Carnival in Venice, We have written, produced and starred in several musicals for children. I didn’t sing. We have won the Founders Cup twice, not a bad list for a two women and our troop of wonderful volunteers.

So now is the new chapter. In my next blog I will compare the experiences which I hope will give insights into garden show enjoyment,

As one might imagine this has given me a lot spare winter time. My garden doesn’t need me right now, the cat is tired of being petted, many flags are made, enough rustic furniture is built for my first sale. and so I have created this web site, well mostly Felix Jones created it. Thank you Felix.

I am not a professional writer, we can all thank god for spellcheck. I hope to share my joy of plants, thrill of growing, passion for colour and lust for discovery with any and all who also love a ROADTRIP. I will do my best to visit all the nurseries on the site but if I miss one this year I will try again next . I hope you will enjoy the incredible nurseries of western Oregon and Washington. If i have miss a nursery or an event let me know.

Off to pack, catch the ferry and spend a few days in Seattle with like minded people
